Love Letters

Love letters are sweet and all,

But between the lines, pain can crawl,

Hidden from view, kept out of sight,

A painful truth, hidden in the night.

Words can be deceptive, false and stray,

A smile of love can hide a tear today,

The pain of loving someone out of reach,

The pain of not being able to speak.

Those unsaid words can cut so deep,

A secret kept that makes it hard to sleep,

Said or unsaid, it all remains,

A love that's lost, still in chains.

Pain lurks beneath, like a serpent coiled,

A wound unhealed, left to be boiled,

Love letters can't always heal what's broken,

Sometimes pain remains, left unspoken.

So read between the lines, and see,

The unsaid words and pain that be,

For love is not always roses and wine,

But the pain that we work to align.

Love letters may be sweet and bright,

But pain is reality plain in sight,

And we learn to live with the unspoken,

To keep moving on, our love unbroken.
